Let Toys Be Toys

Dear Nerf~

Thanks for finally making this product. I know when I was a little girl I would never have dreamed of playing with Transformers, Legos, or anything else clearly made for boys. {Insert obvious eye roll here} But now that it comes in hot pink, I finally feel empowered to play with the boys! PS, super creative name - "Rebelle Sweet Revenge". Because at the end of the day, if it's not pink, sweet and pretty, we don't want our little girls playing with it. Sincerely, Are You Frakking Kidding Me??

Sure, when I was a little girl I played with Barbie, and My Little Pony. But I also had Legos, Transformers, and Nerf... my parents never gender discriminated. I *wanted* the Nerf bow and arrow set but my mother was afraid I'd hunt my sister with it. So I made one out of a potholder loom, hair bands, and a crochet hook! (Which in hindsight, was probably a lot more dangerous!) I built forts in trees, played at war, and skinned my knees more times than I could count. I think the flip side can be more difficult for many people. Little boys with dolls...

I don't see the threat here. I understand there are differences between the sexes. I understand the difference between gender and sex. I also understand that harsh gender boundaries make incomplete people. I met a man who had never done laundry. In. His. Life. His mother did it for him , even through college. And after college, his college sweetheart (and later wife) took over. I'm sorry, but this isn't 1950!! My husband helps me cook and clean. I wouldn't want a man who didn't.
